Time management tips: know how to make the most of your time
Why have time management tips at all? If anything, trying to manage your time more efficiently takes a hell of a lot of effort…and time. But mainly effort. It is just so much easier to have a system of rules of hints in place to make you manage your time better. But don’t let me waste your time. Let’s move on to the good stuff. Here are some time management tips to help you out.
Know what you want
Don’t head into a situation like a headless Chicken; know what you want from your time. Set goals, achievable ones, and then stick to them. All of your time management planning should be aimed squarely at making better decisions and achieving your goals.
Know how to prioritize your time
The important tasks are the ones that are critical to achieve. These tasks will help you progress in the long term and are more rewarding as well. But sometimes, important tasks aren’t urgent. I need to get my packing done for a trip I have coming up, but it’s not something I will waste my time on. I’ll leave it out and ask someone to do it while I chase more important things, such as getting the visa and foreign exchange in place.
Plan away
Make all of your goals actionable. This is perhaps the most significant part of all and the most important of time management tips. Planning fires your grey matter into life and you will be able to better see how you can do something more efficiently. If you program your mind to find the best solution, more often than not it will do just that for you. And you will end up seeing shortcuts where previously there were none. By preparing for each possible scenario, you will be able to notice conflicts before it crops up and you can then resolve it better so that the most urgent tasks are done rapidly.
Take time out for things
Focus on the important things. Concentrate on the major stuff and don’t waste your mental energy on the trivial stuff. Take the time out for the important thing and you’ll be surprised how everything falls into place.
