I Wish I Had More Than 24 Hours In A Day!

Well, this is what I have heard hundreds and thousands of time from whomever I met on streets, company executives, managers, housewives, and even students! Everybody feels that time is just passing by and its getting faster and faster by the day but we all know the fact that time is immovable, its plays its role for 24 hours in a day and appears the other day. We have 3 options with the time we have in our hands today, one is wasting it, the other is leveraging it and the third is multiplying it. You may wonder what am I talking about, multiplying the time, yes, by this I mean if you manage your time real well in 24 hours you will find yourself free most of the time, “Time is a mind game”, the more you are aware of what you want to do and what you want to get done, the more time you will have in your hands.

I don’t understand why people keep cribbing about time when they have nearly 24 hours in a day, most of the times I feel they are mismanaging the time, which leaves them with very little time to do productive work. The key to success is effective managing of time and leveraging even more time to do extra work to achieve targets. The main victims are the manager who often fret about getting more time from their bosses, as per me they are the most unsuccessful individuals in life, the persons who cannot manage their own time how will they motivate others to manage their time. As they say, “Time is Money”, stands to be true to present times where every tick of a clock counts on the meter of success whether you will succeed or no depends highly on how you manage your time, whether that time spent was for productive purposes and whether it really yield any fruits later.

The way you manage your time and what purposes you use your time is directly dependent on the amount of money you make, have you seen how famous personalities charge every minute for the amount of time they spend in some function or whether giving any speech, each of their word counts because they have power to speak and motivate people in doing their jobs well. Time once gone, is not going to come back but you can learn lessons from your mistakes in the past and manage the time more effectively the next time. I strongly believe by what philosophers of modern times have to say, “Winners don’t do different things, they do things differently”. Doing things differently affects your productivity big way and can also alter the amount of time you spend in doing a particular task. It’s called as intelligent work, the work that is fulfilled by occupying less time, efforts and resources, and is beneficial to all the parties involved. The amount of time lost is not going to come back to us, in the wake of this you can control the time, which is left with you in a very organized manner, and you will see so much time at your disposal. I have myself been in a fix so many times in my career, but I did a very intelligent and uncommon thing that led me up by few meters than my competitors, the first is giving importance to priorities, writing a to-do list and outsourcing it wherever I found it will be done.

As managers and executives of huge multinational companies, you must have often faced challenges, the work pressures, handling your teams, their commitments, solving problems which consumes much of your time but thinking in a logical, practical manner will solve all your problems in just one go. You will be much more relaxed and become aware about managing your risks and your clients, managing your time well is a key credential for success which will come at your doors only if you value time and understand its importance. As I mentioned earlier too, you can either waste or utilize your time, the options are open, the only difference between the successful people and failures is the way they manage their time.

Use your time effectively and avoiding the time wasting activities especially when you have priority list by your side, prepare a to-do functional list that will keep reminding you of the tasks and avoid shifting of priorities at workplace, don’t procrastinate, have the guts to say “NO” even to your managers when you have your other important commitments in office. Most of the corporate time waste are responsible due to lack of focus and attention, improper delegation of work, improper planning, visitors without notice, unproductive meeting and many more of such reasons.

“If you value and respect your time, it is going to value you, even more, utilize the time for priority work and see the success reaching you in no time.”
