Strategies For Effective Branding in the Corporate World
Branding today dominates the sales volume of any business all over the world and process of branding the goods and services plays a very important role in any business strategy.
Branding today is a process by which the promoter of the product ensures that it is easily identifiable through a name, a symbol, or a logo, its design or distinctive packaging and this achieved by aggressive marketing using print media, Television adverts, hoardings, cinema, trade shows, displaying the products at the location where there high foot falls like stations, airports, malls, hotels.
The benefits of branding are immense as the consumers quickly identify the product and its positive features, quality features and which translate in to sales, making tons of money for the promoters.
Brands today can be formatted on many levels like family branding where a range of products is branded together, product branding where the individual products have its own brand name, company branding where the company markets their products using their own name as the brand, or own label branding like supermarkets offer their own version of a product.
For many fast moving consumer goods, much of the range will be directed by the products packaging that conveys the qualities of the same like a bottle of Pepsi its packaging has become an iconic brand and on the other hand some products tend to convey very confused messages like Ferrero Rocher chocolates which are individually wrapped in stylish gold foil, but sold in a cheap plastic box.
A possible strategy, utilizing a strong brand name is that of brand stretching, where the promoter takes an existing brand name and uses it to market new product. However if the new product fails to attract customers it can be termed as “brand vandalism.”
All said and done, there is hardly any aspect which does not need branding to succeed.
