			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I remember reading once that the only a fraction of the work we do is counted as a <strong>productive work</strong>. A lion share of the work done everyday is not counted as a productive work. I found the articles making me a fool as I work like a hog the whole day to earn my bread and if someone says that most of the work is not <a title="Be more Productive by increasing your Efficiency" href="http://www.businessmantra.net/be-more-productive-at-work.html">productive</a> then I have a jolly good reason to fret. But later on I ponder over the matter since I have never tried to measure my <strong>productive work</strong> in a typical day. If anyone ever sits to calculate our productive work in a day we will not be rejecting the article report right away.</p>
<p>The reason why I decided to write this article is to find the actual hard work of a single day and find the ways to eliminate distractions so that we use most of the hours for delivering hard core work exclusively. May be this will make us realize that the routine that we religiously stick to everyday is in reality a non-work routine.</p>
<p>Before I start  with my <img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-2338" style="padding: 3px;" title="Work productivity calculation" src="http://www.businessmantra.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/Work-productivity-calculation-300x216.jpg" alt="" width="270" height="194" />discussion, I would like to draw the attention of my readers towards the definition of work. Work has different meanings and work for me might not be regarded as work for another person. For example, for a social media manager Facebook and Twitter is the main working platform as they have to keep in touch with the social audience for promotional purposes. But social media network in another person’s case is regarded as a distraction. Hence, one should have a clear definition of the work as well as fun. One thing to know and distinguish between the tow is to judge if an action will offer you money in the long-term. If an action offers you money in the long-term then it is definitely work and nothing else.</p>
<p>Once you are aware of what work is, you can now use a method to count the reductive work easily. I would suggest you to use the two device system where you use your computer for all the work that s regarded as productive and for the rest use iPad. Calculating the time spent on each device can explain how much <strong>productive work</strong> you are doing on a single day.</p>
<p>The alternative method of the above mentioned mean is to use a time to keep watch on your productive time solely. It will not be a tough job to do it for at least 5 days and this will give you a correct calculation indeed.</p>
<p>Finally, the method of keeping a track of the login and log off time can be a good mean to see how much time you have devoted to your productive work. This can be done through schedule task option in Windows operating system.</p>

But the experience with James Treybig (President, Tandem Computers) is a bit too different and is also counterfactual statement of my previous line. In a meeting with his engineer’ team James presented his opinion on business collaboration.  He stated that when his team of engineers comprised only 20 members, it performed miraculously. However, as he brought in more engineers and the total number of members roused to 300 there didn’t seem much work being done. As a whole the productivity of the team did not show a radical improvement as it was supposed to. This was the source of frustration for James and probably a reason of frustration for many people.</p>
<p><img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-2162" style="padding: 3px;" title="Business execution" src="http://www.businessmantra.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/Business-execution-300x201.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="201" />Today, the fact about business execution earned from more executives is not unknown to business executives. Companies running with meager employees are plenty in numbers in modern days and the employees working within doesn’t accomplish the desired work. Needless to say, that business executives have realized, business collaboration and execution are not offering them the right push required. There is much room for grievances, angst, frustration and unhappiness. Company owners and managers wish to have better business execution than before and wish that the collaboration among the employees and within a team should improve with time. The gist regarding <strong>business execution</strong> is to achieve higher productivity with less number of people.</p>
<p>On this context of business execution, I will draw the attention to two different areas that are common in every business concern. First are meetings. Meetings in today’s business world are more of a practice rather than a scope to improve business execution. Most of the managers who are found to be engaged in more than a couple of meetings a day find there schedule to be badge of honor. And in many cases it has been observed meetings actually inhibit the process of business execution rather than improving it. People need to find an alternative way of organizing meeting that will require less time and less possibility of organizing subsequent meeting on the same issue. The type holding meetings need improvement.</p>
<p>The second is the decision making part where in most occasions the people at the helm of all affairs take the decision. The employees and team members should be vested with some rights that will allow then to take decisions instantly. This will speed up the process of <strong>business execution</strong> as an employee doesn’t have to wait until the decision is executed from the top.</p>

But indeed, there are many people who indirectly do not give any result of their productivity work and as a result they are as good as non-productive people. The way we deal with our daily tasks at work does a great deal of work in increasing our productivity at work. Although, some might argue with me, but I had to like to state that Procrastination is sometimes healthy and it is a good treat for the soul. From our school days, we had been listening to numerous things relating to procrastination. Our teachers always showed us the examples of procrastination while we postponed our lessons or homework at school and now as grown ups we get to hear from our bosses about procrastination lessons. But, I had argue in some way Healthy procrastination is good as far you do not go beyond your limits and everything is handled in a balanced manner.</p>
<p><img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-1587" style="padding: 3px;" title="Procrastination" src="http://www.businessmantra.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Procrastination-300x299.jpg" alt="Procrastination" width="272" height="270" />Sometimes we need a break from all of our routine work and so do we feel tired and stop working, we procrastinate, this is healthy procrastination as far as your break is not too lengthy that your important tasks to be finished at the end of the day remains unattended and give no productive results to your company. You have to be sure of accomplishing your targets or work when you procrastinate; you need to follow your to-do list systematically in order to attain your position in the office. If you procrastinate then you are the person who is going to fail and indeed you will keep procrastinating and one fine day you will pile up your tasks so much that it nearly becomes impossible for you to do any of these tasks.</p>
<p>A healthy procrastination helps you relax your mind and body and also helps you recharge your batteries. Some people along with procrastination are able to achieve their tasks but it would not happen at easy frequency what it could have been able to achieve earlier without procrastination. A procrastination battle are won only by the people who are well aware of their work ethics and want to achieve their targets in a more important and productive manner. You remain in control of your self, that is the true essence to remain in non-procrastination zone even after procrastinate. You need to have a proper balance in life, the one where you are and can able to achieve everything on time and that too willingly. You fail at your procrastination when:</p>
<ul>
<li style="padding-bottom: 15px;">Your to-do lists still remain a to-do for weeks and months.</li>
<li style="padding-bottom: 15px;">The work backlog is giving you lots of problems professionally and personally.</li>
<li style="padding-bottom: 15px;">You get fired for procrastinating for not finishing the tasks at work on time due to which you even start getting health problems because of the tension caused.</li>
