The professional management career is defining a new face for corporate management and sometimes it so happens that our leaders are just not able to understand what is happening and why it is happening. When things turn out to be something else then what actually they might have suggested or thought upon, leader start to lose their confidence and before they even come to terms as to what is happening they start thinking that they are failures. This problem especially arises in an organizations that are purely mismanaged, where people begin to doubt themselves, they feel insecure and inadequate.

It just takes a while to change the whole scenario only if we could get to the core where the problem actually lies, people commit to themselves to attain a particular target and when it all fails – uncertainty creeps in boosting lower self-confidence. The low self-confidence gives inferiority complex that in turn leads to degradation in the work quality, disability to take the right and logical decisions and low motivation. Here are some of the things or methods that you can apply in your organization to re-build the morale of your employees or even top management people:

Start with holding company meetings where you separate the company employees that have been successful in their work. Single them out so the other employees know that successful people are surround them. This helps to build their own confidence and move towards achieving their goals of life.

Always be willing to accept the management’s mistake and talk to upper management and employees to get together and fix the problem. Most of the times we see that people are willing to join smaller companies to show the impact of their joining these small companies. When the contribution of an individual really matters to the employees, leaders should acknowledge their efforts and reward them in terms of monetary benefits or other similar benefits.

Talk to each of your employees working in the company whether what they feel needs to be changed, ask them steps to get the company back on track.

Let your employees know about new sales policy or compliments given by the client, this helps them to become more confident and proud of their accomplishments even without someone telling other company officials about their achievements.

Know the strengths and weaknesses of your employees and get them on to success tracks. Before giving any task to any employees it is important to know whether if they would really be able to achieve those tasks.

Give compliments to your employees in front of their clients, give them confidence to achieve even more by making them feel better about the work they are doing.

Promote the talent that is already there in the company, let the company clients know that company promotes the employees that are excellent in their work.

Let your company people know when the management has implementation a suggestion sent in by one of its employees, this helps them to build confidence and also help value the company.

Encourage the company people to take risks and reward the people who innovate different ideas and strategies for the betterment of the organization.

Rebuilding the morale of the company would surely take some time to show the actual improvements but it will surely be a successful step in bringing back their confidence levels.

The role of a leader strongly stands by the success in his life and the most trying part of being a leader is to stay strong and comprehensive during tough times. In the path of success, there are lots of hurdles, a true leader will stand with courage and compassion to beat all the things that comes towards his goal or objectives. Its not the emotional strength we are talking about, what is more important here is the mental and emotional being of a person. Each one of us face failures at some point of time in a life, a leader will always be strong in such situations. Whatever situations a leader might face, they should always be strong, no matter what may come next.

A true quotient of leadership lies in mentally preparing yourself for the tough times that are going to come in the future. As we get more prone to challenging situations, we will anticipate more problematic situations that strongly needs our attention and that the leaders also gather that much strength to anticipate opportunities for the success. The development of a leader brings in much of changes to his behavior; a leader is bound to develop a more peaceful and quieter strength. It is practically difficult to stay calm in trying situations but that is what leaders are expected to react to.

Leaders always strive to achieve goals and the some lucky leaders do get and achieve their goals of life but then there are times when a leader does not get everything he wants nor does his people behave the way he wants. Its no problem looking back and keep nagging over such situations. The key lastly lies in being calm and thinking of the alternative plans. If you still do not believe in what I am saying, ask the leaders who got their pink slips this week. A leadership plan consists greatly of adjustments. When you feel something is not going as per your recommendations, then alter your plans and drive your dreams forward in the said direction.

As you move towards your goals and envision success coming to you, you will get success. Thinking positively is always going to yield good results.

Leadership in a company has never emerged tremendously as it is emerging today; more and more people are getting in to the loop of following a particular leadership for the betterment of their organization. It was not until the early twentieth century, that leadership started gaining interest. The early leadership mainly focused on two prospects that focused between the leaders and the followers. Today the leadership is much more than these two, there are other variables involved with factors like skill levels, situational factors, etc. let take a deeper look at some of the theories of leadership which will help us distinguish amongst the styles:

The Trait Theory:

As the term goes, this type of leadership assumes that people inherit certain qualities of being a leader. The Trait theory helps identify leaders with particular personality or characteristics that he might possess.

The Great Man Theory:

This theory assumes that fact that leaders are born and not made, they are inherent. According to this theory, the great leaders spot the examples of heroes, mythical characters, etc.

The Contingency Theory:

This theory relates to particular variables in an environment that determines the type of leadership that is best suited for the given situation. There are number of success variables and this leadership just helps in dealing with them.

The Situational Theory:

This theory comes into action when a particular situation demands it. It’s the instant decision based theoretical concept.

Behavioral Theory:

The behavioral theory believes in the concept of the root behavior of an individual. According to this theory, the behavior of being a leader is made and not born. This theory encourages people to become leaders through teachings and keen observation techniques.

The Participative Theory:

This theory takes in to account the inputs given by others in decision-making. The leadership encourages people to participate and contribute for the good of the organization.

The Management Theory:

Helps you focus on the role of supervision and group performance. This theory is based on the reward system and punishment for defaulters.

The Relationship Theory:

This theory exclusively follows and focuses on the relationship between the leaders and their followers. The leaders motivate and also inspire people to achieve the goals for the organization.

Leader are the foundation structures of an organization, they are the ones whom people follow. Each organization has different theories of leadership that they adhere to. The leadership traits can already be seen in an individual or they can be developed over time, organizations have keen eye on people who have the zest to build a great leadership future. Every born leader has the capability to generate interest amongst his people depending on the theories of leadership used in their organizations. The ultimate goal of a leader is to motivate people and set rules for disciplined working.

Since my childhood, I have always admired leaders and always thought what makes them special, how they are special, what is their behavior like? As I grew, I learned that leaders have particular traits that they become leaders. No one teaches them to be one; they are born with in-built skills. I have some amazing list of famous leadership quotes that I have collected in my dairy since I was 10 years old. I had always been collecting them whenever I came across some. Below are just the few of my favorite famous leadership quotes; I always refer to keep motivating me:

“Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail”
Harold R. McAlindon

“A leader is a dealer in hope”
Napoleon Bonaparte

“He who has never learned to obey cannot be a good commander”
Aristotle

Leaders are the inspirational bundle of people guiding their people’s behavior and help them if they are finding difficulty in their processes. The support the leaders give motivates their employees to recreate a new standard or level to the work. The more a leader is enthusiastic, the more it gets beneficial for the workers. Leaders are a guiding force to a company and its employees; it sets a particular style of working

“What chance gathers she easily scatters. A great person attracts great people and knows how to hold them together”
Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe

“Leadership: The Art of getting someone else to do something you want because he wants to do it”
Dwight D. Eisenhower

Leader motivation is one of the important elements in an organization to get their employees stick to the ground rules. If a leader has a point than he can surely convince all its employees to obey the rules and thus achieve the common objectives of an organization.

“The real leader has no need to lead, he is content to point the way”
Henry Miller

“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader”
John Quincy Adams

“Rely on your own strength of body and soul. Take for your star self-reliance, honesty, faith and industry. Don’t take too much advice – keep at the helm and steer your own ship, and remember that the great art of commanding is to take a fair share of the work. Fire above the mark you intend to hit. Energy, invincible determination with the right motive, are the levers that move the world”

According to George Patton, always tell people what to do rather than saying how to do and you are in for a big surprise to see their ingenuity. For the leaders, it is very important to master the situation. The person who has learned to obey things would know how to command them. There hundreds and thousands of famous leadership quotes that will guide to do something or motivate you but they are not going to work unless you are really determined to achieve your goals of life.

For the organization to run successfully, it is really very important to have a LEADER who can guide a team to the perfect path. More than this, there are effective leadership skills that matter a lot in bringing success to an organization. A perfect leadership approach is necessary for leader to lead his team of future leaders. Lets take a brief look at John Adair’s Action centered leadership that has a pretty straightforward approach focusing mainly on the team, task and the individuals involved. The theory consists of overlapping circles of competence comprising the elements of achieving the tasks, managing the team and managing the individuals. There are varied effective leadership skills people use to get the work done from the workers in an organization.

The different leadership styles help leaders to follow a particular style of leadership depending on the circumstances. Some of its different leadership styles are stated below with a very short description of each of them:

Autocratic leadership style helps people know what to do and what needs to done or used sparingly.

The Bureaucratic style allows following rules based on the set established processes.

The Charismatic style is all about persuading people that is lead by enthusiasm.

The Democratic style invites for contributions for decision-making.

The Laissez Faire helps people to get on with the work and monitor the progress.

The people oriented approach is basically focused on supporting, organizing and developing the people with the skills they have and also managing relationships.

The task-oriented approach helps you to focus on plans, the roles of people, etc.

The transformational approach helps to inspire people with shared vision.

For optimum use and also developing the effective leadership skills, start with something simple, you need not be a hard-core enthusiast. A simple start can lead to a great future ahead. As we know the simple fact that, “Leaders are not born, they are made” the circumstances makes the great leaders and it is greatly influenced by the wiser decisions they take and make. Leadership skills can be developed and some are in-born, you cannot someone to be a LEADER, the leadership traits always get noticed without even pinpointing.

The Leaders are the main contributing factors to a rise or down fall of an economy, companies, nations, political parties or whatever you might term it as. A successful leader may have all the qualities to take the company on the top ladder while a failing leader may get your company nowhere, in fact helps in degrading the status of the company. A leader is the one who has followers; people blindly follow their leaders because of the trust and bond they share for years together. In a way we all are leaders, we too have followers like our children follow us and share our opinion before taking any major steps and even we as leaders have some idols and influences to follow. We are all interrelated and tangled to share our views, policies and opinions with the people to whom we are close with. Leaders have magnetic personality and so does their leadership skills, it helps them to attract people and follow them. We need to take utmost care that we lead people in a positive direction who are blindly following us, it’s our responsibility not to misguide them for our benefits; here are some effective leadership skills, which are the main attributes of a successful leader:

The first and foremost quality of a great leader is they APPRECIATE for who they are; there is no kind of imitation to another person. They act real and they behave and take realistic actions.

Leaders always keep A POSTIVE state of mind, they expect positive results from everything they do and take plunge in. The only motivating factors in their life are self contained positive attitude, no one or nothing can take away that from a leader.

You cannot convince a person unless you are yourself confident about something or believe in. Leaders are said to BELIEVE in themselves with firm mind and heart.

Leaders DON’T HESITATE change in their lives. Every one of us needs change in life and unless we are ready to accept challenges and bring in change we cannot excel or grow.

Leaders draw their own path, they PLAN FOR FUTURE and take necessary steps to be successful in that direction. They are destined to achieve success and define motivating path for themselves.

A leader is the one who influences people and is influenced by others to follow the path of success; he is always BUILDING RELATIONSHIP WITH QUALITY PEOPLE. They are the main motivating factors in their life.

An effective leader sees a positive outcome in a negative situation, they are known for their positive attitude. Leaders can be termed as an OPTIMIST because these are the main attributes of an effective leadership.

Leaders do not just lead, they take care not to mislead their followers and at the same time love and respect them for their efforts. Being a leader does not mean you should be capable of controlling or influencing the crowed, leadership is willingly people let control them and give you respect for what you are.

An organization cannot achieve its success targets without following a particular strategy; leaders are the main motivating factors in an organization. People take examples from their leaders to lead their way ahead and get success on in their lives. No leaders are born, they are made, to suit the requirements of a company and a nation, leadership skills are in-built, but they it develops well with hand-on experience when faced with real time situations of life.

While many argue about leadership dilemmas ever rising in organizational management system, it really can create havoc when disruptive leadership challenges the smooth functioning in an organization. Managers and leaders are the sole persons running an entire management and processes system in a company, these are the extraordinary people handling the hiccups in the company that disrupts its functioning. Managers are hired to solve company problems while paradoxically leaders are meant to create problems, in some cases creating problems welcomes a new change and in some cases it can collapse the whole working system. Problem solving people working in a team are often selected to be young managers cause their function is to keep solving problems created by their respective leaders. A manager requires interpersonal skills, problem solving techniques and competencies to handle a team and most importantly managers should be comfortable with the people in solving their problems.

So the question is, why any leader would like to create a problem at first place? These are the intentional problems created by leaders to bring in a positive change in the running system, to motivate their employees, to innovate or might be for implementing some cost effective methods in their processes. The normal human tendencies indulge in solving the problems of a company, getting rid of unwanted complexities and taking up extra ordinary challenges. The different stages of leadership pass through various stages of learning, developing, implementing, executing, learning from the experiences, and taking actions. Although there are leaders, who don’t go through this particular ladder of learning and go on to create history because they are the ones who envision the future and believe in executing what they have planned.

Leaders are developed with the set mind of managing the chaos as also looking after the company processes, these are the competitive leaders of today who develop the sense of innovation in its peers and strike a competitive balance. The organizational leaders go through competitive environment, they are trained to manage a change and if they don’t possess the quality of adapting to new changes, they can create havoc in the management system and disrupt its working – these are our DISRUPTIVE LEADERS, who are responsible for stagnating the growth of a company and often we see the company policies keep changing time and again.

Taking a back seat and looking at the history, I have seen how companies like Ford had been innovative and always been ready for a change in every stage of its growth, and although they kept driving change in their processes, they never faced any failure, is it some type of magic mantra they use or is there a method by which leaders don’t face any failures? It was in the year 1908, Henry Ford decided to make it possible for every household in the US to own a car, this was the time when only 2% of the population could afford the car. The average household income of the families in the US was $750, so he faced an unsolvable problem of capturing the rest 98% of the market. It was in the year 1908; Model T was launched for $850, which was later sold for $290 in the year 1924, that was the time when most of the US population owned an automobile. By reducing the cost of vehicle, the unsolvable problem, which Henry Ford created for himself got solved, this was the time when people had more choices as GM came up few of its own models and so the competition grew and each company got a good competitive market to sell their products.

Similarly, Sony created same type of problem in the year 1979 when it invented the Walkman, which would allow an individual to listen music privately, by this time no one even thought of inventing such a device, which was unknown to the people, and it gets difficult to change their mindset relating to using some particular device. Leaders are the ones who have strong intrapersonal skills, following change is difficult when they have this specific characteristic, and leaders learn their ability to learn even more in the cases of uncertainty. These are the superb examples of how leaders can foresee a future change, they might be criticized at first but they go on to create history in their work lives.

Disruptive leaders are not always at fault, they bring in problems to create a new history, although they might go wrong sometimes, but they are with some purpose and the people willing to take bigger risks and they do not necessarily create problems always, once when they create problem which are intentional they find a permanent solution to it which helps them develop their growth even further. Like the way the captain of ship minds his routes properly and pays attention to the steering of his ship taking preventive measures in case of storms, he is well committed to return back to his shore without any damages. The main function he does is to remain Focused on his task and be attentive of changing weather similarly; leaders are well aware of their routes and take precautions in case of any disruptions in the market.

Leadership issues are bombarding across all the industries and not many of them work seriously in to fixing these issues. The more organized a company, the larger the leadership problem, at least, this is what I have noticed in my journey of last 2 years. Most of the times, people take their leaders for granted and some are the serious followers and some are forced to follow them so they come up with the issue of disliking their leaders. Companies work their best in communicating with the last hierarchy of employees but nothing seems to be actually working up to solve their leadership problems. The working pressures are way too much to work up a plan, which will let go off the problems. Each individual is different and so we think different in planning our strategies and our plans, employees are the main resources of a company and they are the shoulder bone on which company heavily relies to work up its processes plans.

There are varied issues on which the company management wants to talk to their employees and solve their problems too, as they are inter dependent on each other, the scenarios are the acquisition, new product plan, announcement of a financial crisis, change of board, change of processes, change of managers, etc. these are very sensitive issues when it comes to employees and so it takes a lot of will power and strategy to bring forward these issues in front of them, it’s a serious issue which may have positive or negative outcomes. Given below are few of the methods through which you can effectively communicate with your employees:

Forums
The big announcement for a company are not usually put up on a notice board or the end happy hours session. It requires a bigger place, something like town halls, which will serve the problem, where the CEO or President of a company can address a bigger crowd, a location that is convenient for everybody. Basically, these also include the interactive sessions in which anyone can come up with his or her doubts, suggestions and queries.

Site visit
This is an informal and excellent way of communicating with their employees, they can directly bring their issues concerning to the work place or a particular department. This session doesn’t necessarily rely on spending time with managers but also the employees who are in to actual processes. It’s a more innovative way of discussion through which employees can discuss issues more friendly and openly.

Employee Recognition
Awards ceremony or recognizing the true talents of a company need not necessarily require a separate function. The employees are awarded right at their desks with all the support and commitment they have shown in their respective processes.

Leadership Forums
The CEO interacts directly with his leadership team and discuss the issues concerning to his employees, its one of the powerful methods to get across the problems happening at higher hierarchy, the face to face communication makes discussion more easier and different people can bring in their valued suggestions.

CEO Blog
This is one of the fabulous methods the lowest hierarchies of individuals working in an organization can get forward their views and the CEO himself can blog about the latest happenings or changes in the company. It’s a more open way of interaction, it’s the most fastest and superior way in which all the employees are a part and everybody can read the latest updates.

The above-mentioned methods are not just beneficial to employees but also to the CEO who can directly know their employees problem and can know what people in different departments and different levels of hierarchy are thinking relating to a change in the processes or a change in their working system or any other issues concerning to the company.

It feels really nice to be at the top point of a successful business enterprise, the fascination of being at the top may give some of you goose bumps like it did to me for the first time but its no different when you get at the top after all, who likes working for someone or following the boss’s commands. Reaching at the point where you always wanted to reach is simply exhilarating and overwhelming, till the time you have something on your own life you cannot afford to command respect and recognition from your fellowmen. Its one type of a thrill I got when I started off, with my business 10 years back, today the position at which I stand truly makes me realize my aims of life and what hardships I had bear while reaching this point where there is truly all success and no fears or no hardships.

Doing Business is easy, what requires is the willingness to put hard core metal in to building your own resources, pulling in the skilled men in your business, marketing your business, planning your product scale and the rate at which you offer. You might think, that is all, for doing a business but a business concept goes much deeper than we all think, its only a successful business person who would know, what goes in to building a business, given below are the 8 key points which I would like to share with you for your successful journey to a successful business:

The right vision for your business
To start a business, you need to have a right vision and the talent to achieve your goals or targets. Climbing at the top might sound easy, but to clear the hurdles in setting up your business requires lots of zeal and willingness to put in hard work. If you are going to hold a team, make sure you communicate clearly, your vision, your sales strategy, your targets and other concepts relating to the business.

SWOT Analysis
Working up on the SWOT analysis of your business gives you an idea of your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. They give you a preview of how strong your business is and what things you need to change or bring in your business. The factors make you aware about your financial capacities, the resources that you have, your strongholds, your non-workable plans for business, etc.

Business plan
For running your business, you need to have a good successful business plan, it will have all the process details and the essentials for your business. Business is all about achieving your goals so plan and execute them accordingly.

Business Story
No one becomes pioneer in the field without giving hard work; create your own success story. I don’t expect you to become the rich businessperson at just one go but you can create such workable plans for your business.

Team
The people you are going to work with, are the most important resources for your business.
A Perfect Guide
Professionalism is the most demanding factor in a successful business enterprise. Employ a professional in your field who will guide you to the path of success, professional advices go a long way in building good terms with your customers as well business partners.

Business is the idea of selling some products or services your own way, once when you decide on selling, concentrate on only selling, don’t jump or over do for the people to feel suffocated from your business ideas.

Business Luck

Well, you might have been used to hearing, employees giving an excuse for not doing the work on time but with by-gone recessionary times I have learned quite a few lessons from our managers. There are not just employees who are always at fault; our creative managers have worked up their mental muscles in giving kind excuses for the lay-offs or not incrementing the salary of an employee. How much ever, the stronger reasons the leader’s might give, it’s a proven fact that they are not always superior in their thoughts, they can go wrong in their calculations and they always have foolish reasons to not grant the leaves of an employee. The freelancing field of blogging which I am so deeply attached to requires me to attend lots of seminars and workshops in bigger companies and personally interact with employees, some have very good experiences with their bosses and yet some very poorly grading their managers for the lack of incentives, not granting them leaves or not listening to their problems and yet some were grieving about their past company experiences, how they were laid off without any structural reasons for forced quitting, etc.

I made up my mind to meet up couple of managers too, and listen to what their take was on the issue related, some were honest enough that they did lay off some employees out of no reason – just for bringing back the company from recessionary shocks yet some were bullish about blaming their employees for their forced termination. Many managers have unknown reasons, why their employees had to quit but majority of them gave me “Recession” as the main reason for lay offs happening in the company. If you are still not satisfied with what I have to say, then here are some more reasons to cheer yourselves and hate those managers more dutifully:

Poor Management and planning
In my experiences I have had met a few guys working in companies who had to force quit their companies for the orders given, both of them blamed the poor planning and execution of the processes in the company, no proper details were maintained and there were no written or set targets for them to achieve in a company. A project supposed to be completed the present month, gets done after months of its execution, how can that be? Such are the stories of disastrous management and the employees are finally targeted for the mistake.

Expectations
They are the most killing factors in a company to break down the trust between employees and the managers. Employees get the worth of their work, in terms of salary, feedback and recognition in the company, its only when managers create new expectations in their minds, do they feel the urge to grow in their companies by working even harder. The more the expectations, the more the pressure and in the end employees suffer cause they don’t know the game being played by their managers. Rather than offering new things, which doesn’t even exist in a company, why don’t managers look at what they still have to offer to their employees.

Bring in Improvement
Most of the times, even if companies have resources they don’t like to spend money on their employees by getting in some performance improvement programs or training them for polishing their skills and in the end they give the excuse that the company had no time to get in to such programs because of the ever increasing work pressure.

Many employees had been badly hit by the recessionary after effects and some are still railing in the same path. The companies with good management, planning and execution have proved to be successful in coming out of recession and they are the successful organizations giving their employees much needed support and looking at the welfare of the employees.
