Name a business where negotiations don’t form a crucial part. Don’t need to probe much as you will end up with a negative reply mentioning no name at all. Negotiations in a business house run parallelly with all other business operations and collective bargaining forms a crucial part among it. The need of collective bargaining is felt in an organization irrespective of the size of a business concern.

Collective bargaining is a form of negotiation that takes place between employer and employees. In general, the employees are represented by a single representative of their union. While saying negotiation, we always imagine a situation where an employer and a business client are involved. Such negotiations do exists and the health of a business depends largely on it. But we cannot rule out the positive reinforcement of collective bargaining on a business organization. A negotiation of this type has the power to make or break a business depending on the outcome.

You might wonder when was the last time, you heard about collective bargaining. Just have a look at the newspaper or surf news on internet and you will probably get numerous instances. This type of bargaining between employee and employer occur all too often and most of them never reach a concrete conclusion. The fact that a collective bargaining fails to attain a solution is a tragedy as the participants in this bargaining system seldom realizes the underlying objective of it.

A negotiation, whatsoever type it may have, always takes place to build on similarities rather than disparities. But in most of the labor negotiations that we hear in news or within our locality, are erroneous negotiations. The two parties involved in bargaining have different priorities and both the parties prioritize their own desires over the opponent. This is the reason why a solution is never met, and even if it is met it becomes a transitory peace.

There is a need to develop good bargaining skill to make a collective bargaining successful and let the business, move with the mutual cooperation of both employer and employees. The primary skill in this regards is the pretence and urge to listen to your opposite individual rather than stating your own proposals. An employer, especially, must understand that the propositions placed by the union and then decide whether they are fair. By stating fair I strictly mean the benefit of the entire business and not the interest of employer solely. Finally, the task of chalking out a solution comes where an employer usually plays a crucial role and the solution must make both the parties happy.

Try to be a good listener and understand the emotions of your employees to make a successful collective bargaining.

Businesses, when gains size, are critical to tackle but is managing a small business and easy affair? We need to comply with the fact of evolution, which explains that most big enterprises started of as a small business. And how the size increased is a matter of sales and marketing strategy implementation. A comprehensive marketing strategy for small business can be an effective tool to make it flourish within a small time. In fact, to make a small business succeed marketing strategies need to be affect sales in two dimensions; online and offline. It may sound an aggressive policy but for a small business to excel, such desperate moves are essential.

Considering the suggested marketing strategy, an agency for digital marketing, needs to be set up within a small business house. This agency will contain technical people of Search Engine Optimization who will dedicatedly work to position the company website on the web. For an offline marketing it is necessary for a company website to appear in the first 10 results produced by search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing. Now when we consider a marketing strategy to be successful then there is a need to fathom the right mean to reach it. And this can be done when a website has a good substance within it in the form of informational content. Here, a writer, preparing the site content, must possess a passion about the subject he or she is writing on. Customers will be motivated to buy only when they find information that is not spurious and has usefulness in their lives. Be it anything you can imagine, an informational content on a product or service created by a writer having in-depth knowledge about the topic is sure to grab attention.

Marketing strategy need to be backed by a sales strategy which is easy to implement online. There are countless systems to boost sales online and prime among them is shopping cart. In shopping cart, a customer can pay through their credit card. A shopping cart system has an additional advantage as you can take advertisements from leading online stores like Amazon and others and make an agreement with them.

When marketing strategy of a business is two-pronged, grabbing online and offline customers, the business is sure to get huge boost. Both traditional and digital strategies for marketing are required today to boost a business.

There is a big difference between social media monitoring and measurement , and there is a certain degree of importance to doing both. But taking the first step in this direction can be mildly intimidating. Just when do you know to stop listening and start doing something? Just who do you engage? And when you do engage your audience, how do you go about engaging them? To ensure that your efforts at social media monitoring are successful, here’s what you should do.

Define your objectives

What exactly are you focused on monitoring? Don’t do it just because everyone else is doing it and its “hip”. Do it because you know what you want. Do it if you want to know what people are saying about your brand. Do it if you want to know what people are saying about something. Knowing what you want will help you allocate your resources better.

Know where to monitor

Social media is all about conversations and as such there is a lot of chatter in the space. At its core, social media is all about relationships. And you can’t talk to everyone at once, so pick and choose where you want to hang out. Digitally speaking, of course. And be wherever your audience generally is.

Know what to monitor

Social media monitoring is keyword-based, and so pick the right keywords. Try keeping a track of company, brand and product names. Even competitors can be tracked as also key executives. Keep a handle on what to track because it’s key to success.

Pick and choose

There is a lot to social media. It is voluminous. There’s just so much happening that you can’t be in every place at one time. So make your social media monitoring more intelligent. Be savvy in your choices and focus on whatever is important.

Plan

There has to be a contingency plan in place. In addition, you need to have a plan on how to engage your audience even in more routine scenarios rather than just in isolated cases. When a blogger praises you, use that to benefit both parties. Create a customer advocacy program if you can. Deal with irate customers in a fixed manner and listen to feedback about your competitors too. Think about all of this and have plans in place to deal with everything.

If you do it correctly, guerrilla marketing is a boon for any marketer. It stretches your advertising dollar farther than ever possible and it can even go so far as to earn you the respect of your competitors. But why simply talk about this off hand? Let me offer you an example of this.

At the Beijing Olympics, Adidas pumped in millions of dollars by way of advertisements. They were fully expected to do so. They were, after all, official sponsors of the Games. Adidas has the kind of marketing budget few do, and Chinese sporting goods manufacturer Li Ning certainly did not have those kind of dollars to spend. But their solution was ingenuous. Li Ning was also the name of a gymnast, so he was made to wear the company’s clothing at the opening ceremony and it earned Li Ning (the company and the gymnast) the kind of attention marketing dollars often can’t buy, this on a budget. Consequently, Li Ning’s stocks soared and that, in summary, is the power of guerrilla marketing.

Guerrilla marketing is nothing more than a way to gain real traction in a market that already has enough clutter in it. There’s just so much hype and hoopla surrounding every event that you have to differentiate yourself somehow. And stunts such as the one Li Ning pulled off can go very far when it comes to grabbing your customers by the eyeballs. Consider another example, at the Atlanta Olympics. Reebok was the official sponsor, but Nike handed out flags to fans with the Nike swoosh on it. It was a hilariously brilliant tactic that saw Reebok ambushed at what should have been their own games and it got a whole lot of recognition for Nike.

Guerrilla marketing works well for large companies, but it works even better for small companies that don’t have the money or the awareness that big companies have. Using guerrilla marketing right means that it will catapult them into the consciousness of the customer in a way that was previously impossible. The first thing to do is to come up with a plan. For example, you might not be the official drinks sponsors of an event, but handing out free drinks to all those that arrive for the event is a great way to gain exposure. Marketing experts have confirmed something that doesn’t take a genius to figure out; free stuff always ends up winning you friends and you have attention so long as you hand out free stuff.

Hiring a marketing expert to come up with something can do the job for you, but in the end its about capturing hearts and minds and coming up with ingenuous ways to make this happen. Dubbing yourself the best sponsor not to be a sponsor at the Olympics could work, for instance, or saying you’re the best no 2 car rental company there is, which only makes you try harder (sound familiar?). Some countries, such as England and New Zealand, are tired of guerrilla marketing and are passing laws against such as the laws passed for the 2012 London Olympics. But how do you stop an idea, and how do you defend against free speech? As long as there are enough products to market, guerrilla marketing will flourish. And that is a fact that cannot be disputed.

Here’s a quick question. Does an advertising campaign give birth to a great idea or does creative campaign emerge because it springs forth from a great idea? Go on, think about it for a bit. That question is the marketing man’s equivalent of the chicken and the egg. In case you’re still thinking about it at this point, look at the post title, I kind of gave it away there. Not my best idea, I know. But is it just an academic argument if you were to wonder whether great ideas give birth to creative campaigns or is the opposite true?

Any young company, whilst growing, starts to lay down its roots and establish its brands. Every action it makes, every statement it releases then adds to or takes away from the value of the brand. With time, if the cards are played, businesses and brands can become intertwined. If that is done, creative advertising can be used to increase the value and meaning of the company it represents. Products and services come and go. The brand remains forever. Portable music has evolved from cassettes to the digital format. But the strong emotional connect that brands such as the Walkman and the iPod have will always remain. Brands are immortal, forever. And so if you can wrap a brand around a big idea, you can give birth to creative advertising that will make sure your brand has the kind of following money can’t buy.

Innovation, for instance, is Apple’s core value. It’s safety for Volvo and loyalty for the Marines (yes, they’re a brilliant brand too). That is why Apple has a cult of loyal fans, that is why Volvo is a very respected car maker and that is why Marines pledge undying loyalty to one another. If you were to take more examples, you’d find that Intel builds their campaigns on the idea of performance. That’s why ‘Intel Inside’ is such a reassuring badge for most of us. The examples can come thick and fast; Walmart’s big idea is savings, Google’s is savings. The examples can go on and on, but the point with all of these great institutions and companies is the same. They realize that any sustainable success is built around one single, great idea that then spawns everything else. All of that creative advertising, all of their public image, all of their products and services. Everything flows from that.

These companies actually build their brand and take strategic decisions based on these ideas. Coke appeals to diverse markets because they have one simple appeal; happiness. Who’s going to argue with that? It’s impossible to say happiness is bad. Everyone wants happiness, don’t they? But happiness is more than an advertising idea or a buzzword. It’s something that brings the company to life, something that connects with people and if you can discover something that animates your business, you too will reap the rewards. A recent example that comes to mind is that of the new series of Old Spice ads. Same old manliness appeal, brand new avatar. And what a hit it was! Just keep things simple, distil your idea until it’s sharp and your business and creative advertising will do the rest for you.

The one very important way of growing business is just not making money but to get new clients in to the business alongside also preserving the old. Some people think that if they do not get well with the existing clients they can get in new customers but this way it is not going to give a steady growth of a business. The true charm of a growing business is retaining your old clients, but is there a way out we can preserve them. Sometimes, clients want to try different people and thereby also different products and services and hence change their business partners. This can lead to a steady decline in the amount of profits and clients.

Advertising world has bought around lots of changes in the way manufacturers showcased their products to the consumers. The technological advancements in an advertising field has grown up to such a level that companies can change their ads in a matter of just few minutes and that is with the help of digital advertising signs. The digital signages are a network of customized digital display, that we can control using a computer. Growing number of companies are using digital advertising signs to deliver their message to the targeted audience, also to educate and motivate them. The digital signs boards make use plasma displays, LED, LCD, projected images that are seen hung on retail stores and corporate buildings. The digital advertising signs has lots of benefits over static forms of advertisements as the messages on it can be changed frequently just with a click of a button. They offer you great returns on your investments.

All over the world, China has the largest number of digital signage usage and the number of NASDAQ IPOs. The country’s biggest signage firm, Focus Media Holding alone operates over 120,000 screens. The total revenue coming from digital signage equipment including the hardware, installation, maintenance and software grew by 33% in the year 2009 in the United States. Here are some of the common purposes where digital signages are used:

To display public information like news, weather, traveler information, fire exits and other local information.

Used by company for brand building in the forms of digital signage.

To enhance customer experience by displaying the perceived wait time in bank queues, restaurant waiting areas, demonstrating a recipe in retail outlets, etc.

To display inside information on health and safety, corporate messages in a company, etc.

It helps to influence customer behavior by directing them to a particular area through digital display.

To enhance the relationship with the customer by putting up interactive screens.

It is important to update the content of the digital signage on a regular basis to pass on the correct information or message to the customers. You can change the content of the digital signboard manually or by a scheduling system. There are varied options for the hardware used for digital signboards; it includes the use of one or more digital screens, media player and content managing server. There might be cases, where more than one such component is used for a single device depending on the need. Each content management server is capable of supporting multiple media players and each media player can support multiple screens.

One of the main reasons for growing number of digital signages are the rapidly dropping prices of large plasma and LCD screens. The advanced digital signages allow mobile phone interactivity with the exchange of SMS and Bluetooth devices. Your SMS message can be displayed on the digital screen and allows direct interactivity with the audience. The digital advertising signs are tremendously useful for social media interactivity; the users can send the Twitter and Flickr messages directly to the displays. Some digital displays make use of autostereoscopy technology for 3D displays in which a user can see the 3D image without using 3D glasses.

The growing competitiveness amongst the big market players have lead them to mislead their customers in the form of false advertising. This type of advertisement makes use of misleading statements that people easily fall prey to. The false advertisements are so articulated to make it look so truthful and real that even the true, disciplinary advertisements looks like false advertising. These types of advertisements are so made to make believe the customers that they are somehow profiting from the transaction. Deceptive advertisements cheats the customers of quantity or quality, a customer might feel he made good deal but in real sense he might have paid a lot more money.

The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has set up a regulatory committee to end all the misleading or deceptive claims made by the companies. The FTC describes the incidences were there is potentiality of getting deceived by the existing claims made by companies in advertisements. If you are a deceived customer, you can submit the copy of the original ad and claim made by deceiving company to FTC or your State Bureau. You cannot probably sue the company for making such false claims but reduce the probability of them making such false claims in the future.

Usually, there are many forms of false advertising the manufacturers use to deceive their customers with false claims. The most common forms is INFLATED PRICE COMPARISON, the retailers tend to raise the price of the product and then offer the products at a lower sale price to the customers to which customers believe that they are getting a good deal out of merchandise sale but supposedly they are paying the same cost. The inflated price can be practiced when the customers have loyalty cards to shop at grocery stores or other retail outlets. The inflated costing saves them a little money. The other forms of false advertising are selling the products with a rebate. The companies do not give rebate at the point of purchase but needs to be claimed by the customer. Some companies do not give rebates on time and so customers are made to pay full price later on. Some other forms of false advertising used by manufacturers and retailers are:

Bait and Switch advertising is used to lure customers with attractive offers and then trying to sell them more expensive products.

Customers often get attracted to Buy one Get one Free, in this form of advertisement; the price of the product is doubled or inflated to a specific amount to cover the cost of free item.

Most of the advertisements make use of misrepresentation techniques by falsely claiming the actual origin, the use of the product, the benefits, the quality, etc. Let us take an example of a manufacturer using a beauty model to showcase that she reduced weight using their products.

People get lured by the false claims made by companies, the best way to stay alert is: compare the different product’s pricing, their uses, benefits, facts, claims made, etc. You can report any cases of mal-functions or misrepresentations by companies to the Department of Consumer Affairs.
